I bought this dress about 25 years ago from a fancy-pants shop in The Promenade Cheltenham. I loved it and loved it to death. When it eventually started showing signs of resentment, I silenced its minor blemishes by tarmacking over them with fabric and wool and adorned it loudly with a circular hopscotch pitch as part of my series 'There's Fun to Be Had' celebrating playground apparatus.
The dress is made from gorgeously soft cotton and has a delicious swooshy way about it that makes you feel you are forever walking along a beach at dusk. The hopscotch squares are also made from cotton and surrounded with punchy blue wool. There is a larger mended area on the back where there was a small tear. (It's in picture 4). Not surprisingly, this is a complete one-off piece absolutely ideal for jumping up and down in.
Size-wise, it's a sack. Anything from a 10 to a 16.
