From the BINFLUENCER series.
I’ve been prowling the back-alleys and garbage lots of London to found myself some appealing dumpsters to create a complimentary outfit for. And this is the opening piece.
The Scrapyard Scribble Dress playfully replicates the scrawling biomorphic flow of graffiti using white t-shirt tape.
And creates a duality between dress and dumpster through colour mimicry.
Naturally there are pitfalls to this line of work; primarily the time lag between meeting the bin and revisiting it with the finished poubelle couture.
The addition of red paint to the bin’s centre initially caused dismay and sent shockwaves through the Binfluencer community. (Me.)
But then, like a meteor across the mind’s sky, I had the idea to pull my hat off, and it was as though my hair and the paint were dripping from the same can.
If you would like to visit the bin, you can find it blocking the pavement on Westbourne Park Road.
The Scribble dress started life as a high necked Boden size 12. I regret that the fabric labels have been removed, but it feels like a lightweight wool with a nice little swish to it. The back has no adornment. It zips at the back of the neck. Perfect condition. The price includes standard UK delivery.
